Turin, June 1 (LaPresse) – McLaren scores a one-two in the Spanish Grand Prix. Oscar Piastri, starting from pole position, won the race ahead of teammate Lando Norris, who overtook Max Verstappen at the start and quickly closed in on the Australian, who strengthens his lead in the world championship standings.

Charles Leclerc takes third place for Ferrari, snatching the podium from Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who was penalized by a strategic error from the team: they fitted hard tyres after the safety car came out due to Kimi Antonelli’s retirement from the race with mechanical issues in his Mercedes.

In the final battle, George Russell claimed fourth place ahead of Verstappen, who crossed the line fifth but was handed a 10-second penalty by the stewards, pushing him out of the top ten.

Strong performance by Nico Hulkenberg, finishing fifth for Sauber, ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the other Ferrari.

Points also went to Isack Hadjar (Racing Bulls), Pierre Gasly (Alpine), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), and Liam Lawson (Racing Bulls).
