Paris, May 31 (LaPresse) – Jannik Sinner comfortably qualifies for the round of 16 at the Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the current season on the clay courts of Paris. The world number one defeated Czech Jiri Lehecka, ranked 34th in the ATP rankings, in three sets with a score of 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 in one hour and 35 minutes of play. The Italian player will face Russian Andrey Rublev in the round of 16, who advanced without playing thanks to the retirement of Frenchman Arthur Fils.
“Today I played really well for two and a half sets. And Jiri also served well, courageously. I’m very happy,” Sinner said after the match.
“I try to go on court with the right focus and apply what I prepare with my coaches. Then it’s important that I feel happy on court,” explained Sinner, who won his 17th consecutive match in Grand Slams and reached the round of 16 for the 15th time in the last 16 Grand Slams played.
“We try to improve even though, seeing how I played today, I think there are few things I could improve,” concluded the world number one.
