Milan, 27 May (LaPresse) – Christian Scaroni won the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia, Piazzola sul Brenta-San Valentino (Brentonico), covering 203 km, the second mountain finish of this edition. Scaroni crossed the finish line in a parade with his XDS Astana teammate Lorenzo Fortunato, securing the first all-Italian victory. Another Italian, Giulio Pellizzari, completed the podium less than a second behind. Mexican Isaac Del Toro, of the UAE Emirates team, narrowly retained the pink jersey as race leader.
