Paris (France), 23 May (LaPresse) – French tennis player Caroline Garcia has announced her intention to retire as she prepares to compete in her 14th Roland Garros. ‘It's time to say goodbye,’ she said. "After 15 years competing at the highest level and over 25 years dedicated to this sport, I feel ready to turn the page and start a new chapter. That said, it's not over yet. I still have a few tournaments to play. The first one will be at home, at Roland Garros.‘ Thirty-one years old, Garcia has 11 titles in her career, was ranked number 4 in the world but is now ranked 145th. ’My journey has not always been easy,‘ Garcia said on Friday, ’from the beginning, tennis has meant much more than wins and losses. It was love or hate. Joy or frustration. And despite everything, I am deeply grateful for everything this adventure has brought me. For everything tennis has given me. For the strong, passionate and determined woman it has helped me become. But now it's time to move on. My body – and my personal aspirations – are telling me so."
