Napoli-Cagliari, Nicola: ‘We'll play our game, with the right attitude on the pitch’

Turin, 22 May (LaPresse) – "Everyone has to think about themselves. Cagliari will play their game because they want to finish the season well and get the best possible result. The Scudetto challenge is between Inter and Napoli, while Como and Cagliari are on a different path and – speaking for Cagliari – we will take to the pitch with the right mindset, the ideas that have distinguished us this season, with a few absences due to injury, but those who play will perhaps have extra motivation because they have had fewer minutes available." This was stated by Cagliari coach Davide Nicola ahead of tomorrow evening's league match against Napoli. ‘Mina and Luperto will be available, we got them back for the Venezia game after they had to deal with a few niggles. Caprile has a muscle problem that flared up again against Venezia and tests have ruled him out,’ he added, giving an update on the players available. "Gaetano has had surgery and we're happy he's doing well, but obviously he won't be available. Pavoletti and Zortea also have a few minor issues that we will assess between now and the game.‘ ’I believe that first and foremost we need consistency and honesty, without fooling anyone. There are clubs that have been in Serie A for many years, with different budgets. Cagliari is in the position it wanted to be in at the start of the season: if we want to improve, we will have to make certain choices and carry out a wide-ranging assessment to understand how and if we can take a step that will take us higher in the table,‘ continued the Rossoblù coach. ’We have hardly ever been in real danger, we equalled last season's points tally with one game to go, showing a different approach to the past, doing many things well and others where we need to improve. The ambition is there, but we need to be very rational in our assessments and understand which direction we want to go in. As is right and proper, at the end of the season we will sit down with the club and discuss every aspect."
