Rome, May 21 (LaPresse) – Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has urged the club to work with a smaller squad next season, as he is 'mentally' troubled by having to leave so many players out of the matchday squad when everyone is fit. "I told the club… that I don’t want to leave five or six players in the stands," Guardiola said after his team’s win over Bournemouth yesterday, which moved City up to third in the Premier League with one game remaining. The club currently has 28 players in the first team, not including four players out on loan, and owns one of the most valuable squads in the world, reportedly worth over €1.3 billion. "I don’t want this. I’ll leave. If they reduce the roster, I’ll stay," added the coach, who is under contract until June 2027. Despite the star-studded lineup, City faced a series of injuries late last year, suffering five straight losses across all competitions between October and November. In January, City signed Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis, Khusanov, and Nico González for around €200 million.
