Rome, May 8 (LaPresse) – The stadium in Bergamo will host Italy vs Estonia on Friday, September 5 (8:45 p.m.), the Azzurri's third match in the 2026 World Cup qualifying group and their first official fixture after the summer break. Italy will begin their Group I campaign against Norway in Oslo on Friday, June 6, and then host Moldova on Monday, June 9 in Reggio Emilia. The national team returns to Bergamo nearly five years after the 1-1 draw with the Netherlands in October 2020 during the UEFA Nations League, with a goal by Lorenzo Pellegrini. On that occasion, the team chose to embrace Bergamo—one of the cities hardest hit by the COVID-19 emergency—showing football’s solidarity with the local population and paying tribute to pandemic victims through a visit by an FIGC delegation to the Monumental Cemetery.
