Milan, May 5 (LaPresse) – Minimal changes for Italian players in the latest WTA women’s world rankings released this morning following the conclusion of the WTA 1000 in Madrid. Three Italian players remain in the top 100. Jasmine Paolini remains the top-ranked Italian, reclaiming the No. 5 position after reaching the third round at the Caja Mágica, overtaking Madison Keys. The 29-year-old from Bagni di Lucca is now close to her career-best ranking. Behind her, Lucia Bronzetti moves up to No. 58, while Elisabetta Cocciaretto jumps five spots to No. 82.

There are slight shifts within the top ten. Aryna Sabalenka remains at No. 1 for the 29th consecutive week (37th overall, having also led from September 11 to November 5, 2023). The 26-year-old from Minsk, who also won the Madrid title, further extends her lead – now 4,345 points – over second-ranked Iga Swiatek.
