Rome, May 3 (LaPresse) – “I’m still playing my usual tennis, but I have a clearer idea of what I need to do. I’ve definitely got a different mindset on the court.”
Lorenzo Musetti explained the key factor in his evolution, which will see him break into the Top 10 for the first time on Monday, despite his 6-3, 7-6(4) loss to Jack Draper in the semifinals of the Madrid Masters 1000.
“A few years ago, in a match like this, I probably would’ve given up in the second set. But today I kept fighting until the last point, trying to raise my level,” he said at the press conference.
Both players performed at a high level. “We finished many points with winners,” Musetti explained. “In the second set, I felt I had chances to break. I tried to take the initiative. I stayed very close to him, but Jack, right now, I think is one of the best players in the world.”
