Milan, April 29 (LaPresse) – Novak Djokovic has announced that he will not participate in the 2025 Italian Open. The Serbian will miss a tournament that holds a special place for him, where he has always said he feels at home. Djokovic has triumphed six times at the Foro Italico, making him the second most decorated champion in Rome after Rafa Nadal. At the Italian Open, Djokovic has won 68 of the 80 matches he has played. He also celebrated his 1000th career victory here in 2022. This year, he reached the final in Miami, where he was on the verge of securing his 100th career title on the ATP Tour but was defeated by Jakub Mensik. He was then beaten in the opening round in Monte Carlo by Chile's Alejandro Tabilo, who had also stunned him in Rome last year, and in Madrid by Matteo Arnaldi. This marks the second time this year that he has suffered three consecutive defeats. The last time this happened was in early 2018, from the Australian Open to Miami. The Serbian, who also holds the record for Masters 1000 titles (40), has a season record of 12 wins and 7 losses.
