Milan, 26 April (LaPresse) – Pope Francis' passion for football, and in particular for San Lorenzo de Almagro, the Buenos Aires team for which he was also a fan club member, is well known. So tonight, the Argentine team will take to the field in the league against Rosario Central wearing a commemorative jersey dedicated to the Pope. According to Argentine media reports, San Lorenzo will wear a jersey with the words ‘Papa Francisco-Juntos por la eternidad’ (Pope Francis-Together for eternity) at the Nuevo Gasometro stadium. Not only that, but the team bus will be customised with a photo of Pope Bergoglio holding a San Lorenzo pennant and the words ‘Siempre Cuervo’ (as the team's fans are called). In addition, the 20,000 fans in the stadium will be given white and yellow flags, the colours of the Vatican, to wave when the teams take to the field.
