Rome, 27th March (LaPresse) – The NBA will consider starting a new professional basketball league in Europe with FIBA, the international governing body of basketball, as a partner. This was announced by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, as reported in the New York Times. Silver's words come after months of preliminary talks with European clubs, possible investors and FIBA. ‘We believe now is the time to move to the next phase,’ Silver said. ‘At our board of directors meeting today, our club owners expressed enthusiastic support for us to continue exploring this opportunity,’ he added.
