Rome, 20 March (LaPresse) – Japan is the first national team to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The ‘Blue Samurai’ beat Bahrain 2-0 at home in Saitama, bringing their score to 19 points in group C of the Asian qualifiers, a score that allows the team from the Land of the Rising Sun to finish in the top two places in the group and qualify for the final phase. With three rounds to go, Japan is comfortably leading the group, nine points ahead of Australia, who today won 5-1 against Indonesia in Sydney. In third place, with the same number of points (6), are Saudi Arabia and China (who will face each other tonight), Indonesia and Bahrain. The three host countries have already qualified for the World Cup final stage.
