Milan, February 13 (LaPresse) – Three men have been found guilty in a case of attempted blackmail against the family of Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher.
The perpetrators demanded €15 million from the family to prevent the publication of hundreds of private photos and videos, as well as digitized copies of Schumacher’s medical records.
According to the DPA news agency, a district court in Wuppertal sentenced the main perpetrator to three years in prison. His son received a six-month suspended sentence along with a €1,200 fine.
Another defendant, a former security guard for the family, was sentenced to two years of suspended imprisonment and fined €2,400 for aiding the other two men.
