Milan, Feb 5 (LaPresse/AP) – LeBron James admitted he spent two days in disbelief after the Los Angeles Lakers traded away Anthony Davis, his close friend and teammate for five and a half years, in exchange for Luka Doncic, with whom he will now form a new superstar duo in the purple and gold.

"Luka has been my favorite player in the NBA for quite some time," James said Tuesday night after scoring 26 points in the Lakers' dominant win over the Clippers. "I've always tried to play the right way and inspire the next generation, and Luka is one of them. Now, we're teammates, so it’s going to be a very smooth transition," added the league's all-time leading scorer.

Like the rest of the world, James initially thought the trade was a joke when he heard about it on Saturday night while having dinner with his family in New York. "My emotions were all over the place," James admitted.
