Cinema, Mollicone (FdI): "Reform governance, Commission was wrong on Regeni"

Milan, Apr. 11 (LaPresse) – Federico Mollicone, president of the VII Parliamentary Committee on Culture, Science and Education of the Chamber of Deputies, spoke about the controversy surrounding the documentary on Giulio Regeni, explaining that the project was rejected twice by a technical rather than political commission, while personally considering the decision wrong. He reiterated that Fratelli d’Italia has always supported the search for truth in the case of the Italian researcher killed in Egypt and announced the intention to host a screening at the Chamber of Deputies with the director and the family members. Mollicone then criticized the Italian film funding system, arguing that many films supported by public funds and tax credits do not achieve success. He explained that a comprehensive reform of the sector is underway through a delegation to the government, with the aim of revising governance and funding allocation criteria. According to the MP, the current system, introduced in past years, has favored unworthy productions. He finally stressed the need to overcome cultural prejudices against certain genres and to update evaluation criteria.
