Rome, 10 April (LaPresse) – “Social media, digital technology and technology are not problems in themselves. They are symptoms of much broader issues that we fail to understand or that we probably do not want to face. Technological tools amplify existing vulnerabilities, create new ones and exacerbate them. This is why the Government is working to identify the most effective mechanisms for intervention. The aim is not to introduce bans that can be easily circumvented, but to offer alternatives for protection and safety and to create, as far as possible, safe and secure digital ecosystems. Various options are under consideration, and the Government will take on board the proposals and suggestions that emerge today as well. Because our aim is to build a society that is more attentive to the needs of children and young people, and initiatives such as this are very useful for identifying the best solutions”. So said Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in her message to the ‘National Festival for Listening to Minors’, an event organised in Rome by the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies to mark the second National Day for Listening to Minors.
