Milan, 9 April (LaPresse) – “We have discussed the European Union, the challenges it faces and how it must equip itself to tackle them,” Russia “has not only attacked a free and independent country such as Ukraine, but has also highlighted to the European Union the urgent need to organise its own security and defence against dangers of this kind, which today affect Ukraine and tomorrow could affect any other country. This is why it is important to move swiftly on European common defence to strengthen its security capabilities, not only for its own sake, but to contribute to international security.” This was stated by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, during a press conference in Prague with the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.
