First and foremost on the sporting front, with our medal tables overflowing. In addition to the medals won – and I was fortunate enough to be present for some of them – the records achieved must also be remembered. We have also been able to follow some inspiring personal stories, stories of great passion, sacrifice and dedication. It is important that these stories capture people’s attention and serve as an example for young people.” So said the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, speaking at the Quirinale during the ceremony for the return of the flag by the Italian athletes returning from the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
