Rome, 19 March (LaPresse) – "It is striking to see the nonchalance with which the Undersecretary for Justice, Delmastro – one of the leading advocates of the Nordio reform on which Italians will vote in a few days’ time – finds himself at the notary’s office alongside other politicians from Fratelli d’Italia, the Vice-President of the Piedmont region, councillors and municipal councillors from Biella, to set up a catering company together with an 18-year-old girl, the daughter of a man previously investigated and subsequently convicted of mafia association for acting as a frontman for the Senese clan, well known on the Roman criminal scene. We learn from the press that Giorgia Meloni has apparently been aware of the facts for as long as a month. Italians have the right to a clear statement from her, but not after the referendum; we demand it immediately. Delmastro, already convicted of revealing confidential information to Donzelli, who used it to attack the opposition in the Chamber, could not possibly have been unaware of the identity of the 18-year-old chosen as sole director of the company he was founding – a company which, it appears, he had not even declared in accordance with transparency requirements. Meloni must stop defending her own and start defending the dignity of the institutions and Italian interests.” So said PD secretary Elly Schlein.
