Rome, 16 March (LaPresse) – “Once again, La Russa is carrying out his role with bias and a lack of respect for the institutions. We all have the deepest respect for the emotional tragedy that the Travallion children and their family are going through. Precisely for this reason, we would never, ever have thought that anyone – the Prime Minister the day before yesterday, Minister Salvini yesterday, today even the second-highest office in the state, and tomorrow Nordio with the inspectors – would have used this case for petty electoral purposes ahead of the referendum. All this is very serious; it demonstrates cynicism, institutional recklessness, but also nervousness ahead of Sunday. In cases such as these involving young children, sensitivity, tact, close consultation and cooperation are required between the family, psychologists, social workers, juvenile magistrates and lawyers. La Russa is somewhat reminiscent of the same cynicism that was displayed during the Bibbiano affair’. So said PD Senator Walter Verini, interviewed by Radio Popolare.
