Rome, Mar. 9 (LaPresse) – “A society that invests in women becomes not only fairer, but stronger, more innovative, and more dynamic. All indicators show that the economy grows with women’s work, and with it the overall quality of life improves. Promoting policies that support inclusion, training, female leadership, and supporting maternity without career penalties are fundamental factors for the future of our Italy. For all these reasons, and because of the importance of this issue, it seems—and is—paradoxical that we still often have to deal with gender-based violence. Yet, unfortunately, it is necessary. The commitment to consign it to the past requires not only strengthening legal norms and protective tools, but above all cleansing minds of a distorted mentality nourished by atavistic prejudices and culpable ignorance.”
Thus spoke President Sergio Mattarella during the celebration of the 'International Women’s Day' at the Quirinale. “Educating for respect, first in the family, then at school, in the workplace, is the most effective response to build a society in which no woman should be afraid or left alone,” added the Head of State.
