Rome, 30 January (LaPresse) – ‘The clash between judges and politicians, as presented to the public, has reached unacceptable levels for a country that traditionally considers itself the cradle of legal liberalism.’ So said Pietro Gaeta, Attorney General of the Court of Cassation, in his report at the opening of the judicial year. In reality, when it comes to justice, we should abhor the logic of preconceived discontent and the simplification of problems at all costs, which is the offspring (and mother) of non-dialogical structures: democracy, on the other hand, is dialogue and concerted action, inevitably producing laborious, ontologically “compromising” solutions (in the noble sense of the etymology: “promising together”) and requiring longer elaboration and implementation. But the binary scheme of opposition does not work well when the issue to be resolved is as complex and delicate as the justice system of a country." Thus spoke the Attorney General of the Court of Cassation, Pietro Gaeta, in his report at the opening of the judicial year in the presence of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, and the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio.
