Milan, 24 January (LaPresse) – "It is not true that we are the party of lawyers; I would say that we are instead the party of magistrates. Is this a provocation? Yes. With this reform, we aim to safeguard the sanctity of the toga, because we never want a magistrate to be questioned when he or she has to judge a person's life. We believe in the sanctity of the toga and we want to remove it from the mud where some have thrown it." This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, speaking at the event 'Values. More freedom, more justice' in Rome. “The magistrate is the one who holds the scales of justice in his hands, which is why he must be independent and must not be influenced by either the defence or the prosecution,” he added.
