Rome, Jan. 13 (LaPresse) – “No to the salva-casta referendum.” This will be the refrain of the M5S campaign advocating a ‘no’ vote in the confirmatory referendum on the constitutional justice reform. The campaign is awaiting its official launch, which could happen today, but it has already been carefully planned.

The idea is to use various communication and information tools to make people understand that “with this reform, they want to create a caste of untouchable and unpunishable politicians,” according to parliamentary sources from the Five Star Movement, while “we want the phrase written in courts, ‘The law is equal for everyone,’ to have meaning.”

The movement notes that time is short, so the campaign will focus not only on mobilizing voters but also on providing information: flyers, videos, and graphics to be shared on social media will be accompanied by a “thorough campaign on the ground,” with initiatives in all regions coordinated by local representatives, as well as larger events across Italy involving, in addition to M5S leader Giuseppe Conte, other party figures active on justice issues, such as MEP Giuseppe Antoci, Roberto Scarpinato, and Federico Cafiero De Raho.

The guiding principle will be to explain “even with practical examples why this reform does not affect citizens’ lives or the efficiency and timing of justice,” in order to “expose the center-right’s campaign,” sources from the Five Star Movement say. The entire party is mobilized on the issue: yesterday Conte convened the executive boards of both the Chamber and the Senate, along with the MPs most involved on the topic, to coordinate all communications and finalize the initiative.
