Milan, 8 December (LaPresse) – In times of maximum crisis, ‘new opportunities can open up’ and we must find the courage for ‘electroshock therapy, which is essential to save Europe from decline, from being reduced to an economic giant and political dwarf, a residual entity in the new world scenario’. So said Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and Secretary of Forza Italia, Antonio Tajani, in an interview with Corriere della Sera. In his view, we do not need ‘less Europe, but a Europe that renews itself and becomes a protagonist and also autonomous.’ How can this be done? "By changing, profoundly. Europe as it is structured cannot compete with other powers. And it is not a question of responding to this or that statement – America necessarily remains our main ally – or of thinking that we are at war with Russia. We need to think about how we can recover, not reduce ourselves to small-scale actions," adds Tajani.
