Rome, Nov. 17 (LaPresse) – Giuseppe Conte, leader of the Five Star Movement (M5S), sharply criticized Giorgia Meloni’s government, arguing that the right-wing, thanks to media concentration and PNRR funds, is engaging in propaganda while shifting blame onto the opposition. According to Conte, after three years and four budget plans, the damage caused by the government’s incompetence is beginning to emerge.

On security, the M5S leader reiterated that his proposals are not ideological but respond to real social cohesion needs. Regarding the centre-left, Conte said he is open to dialogue but believes alliances should be built on policy content rather than predetermined frameworks. On the topic of the Ulivo, he stated that such references are outdated and that a new social transformation project is needed.

On the war in Ukraine, Conte criticized the right for its division and emphasized the need for a negotiated solution involving all major global players, including China. Finally, addressing speculation about a possible re-candidacy as prime minister, Conte did not rule it out but stressed that it would not be an obstacle in choosing the best candidate.
