Rome, 10 November (LaPresse) – ‘For me, Vannacci is one of many who has a membership card, has the statute in his hand and knows how it works. The rules are clear to everyone, as they are to me, so they are to him too.’ These were the words of Luca Zaia, president of the Veneto Region, regarding the deputy secretary of the League, Roberto Vannacci. Zaia added: "All of us militants respect the party rules and act as militants. Identity is fundamental, we must preserve the identity of the League: think of the people, be liberals, progressives, autonomists. I have experienced better times in the Lega and worse times, but I have seen this in all the parties on the political scene in this country." Regarding the social media post in which Vannacci rewrites the history of the March on Rome and the racial laws, Zaia says: ‘I haven't seen the post, I don't respond to things I haven't seen, but I think that the racial laws were one of the worst periods in history, with 6 million people, Jews, Gypsies, gays and disabled people sent to their deaths in concentration camps. We have this scourge of racial laws that we will never be able to erase.’
