Rome, Nov. 8 (LaPresse) – “The atmosphere is not good and is further deteriorating, despite repeated and heartfelt calls to maintain a civil stance and dialogue in terms of frankness and cordiality.” This was stated by ANM president Cesare Parodi during his speech at the Central Steering Committee of the association currently taking place in Rome, referring to the justice reform.
“The stakes,” he added, “are clearly high, not only for us but for many others. And this unfortunately has an influence. The situation that is unfolding worries me, not in the sense of fear, but because I am concerned about not being able to clearly explain our ‘no’, which is not ideological but reasoned.”
“These are truly difficult times. Difficult because there is a refusal not only to maintain appropriate tones,” Parodi added at the end of his speech, “but also to think in terms of logic and system. These should instead be the common foundation for dialogue among magistrates, jurists, politicians, and journalists. As an African saying goes, when it rains, it is not essential to find shelter, but one must learn to dance in the rain. It is raining heavily, and we must continue to dance because dancing is what can at least save our consciences.”
