Milan, Sept. 26 (LaPresse) – “We are working on a points-based residence permit. Just as there is a points system for driving licenses, where points are deducted for drunk or drugged driving, even more so, if I grant you citizenship and open the doors of my country to you, I can deduct points and send you back to your country.” This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Lega leader Matteo Salvini on 'Mattino Cinque News' on Canale 5.
“We are working, as the Lega and as a government, to ensure that migrants who have been convicted serve their sentences in their own countries. There are too many here,” he added. The Deputy Prime Minister also addressed the situation in Ukraine and the growing tension between NATO and Russia. “I have no elements to say that so-and-so wants war. I notice that those who keep insisting on saying ‘Let’s go to war against Russia’ and call for a European army are not using words of peace. It is possible that someone in difficulty in their country—not the Italian government… Others in Europe need this climate of tension to remain in their position. Not us; our children will not go to fight in Ukraine,” Salvini said.
