Milan, Sept. 24 (LaPresse) – Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, on a mission in New York for the UN General Assembly, has been informed of the attack on the vessels of the Gaza Flotilla navigating near the island of Crete. This was announced in a statement by the Italian Foreign Ministry.
"The Flotilla is sailing in international waters and also hosts Italian citizens on board, along with members of parliament and MEPs," the statement reads. "To ensure their safety, the Foreign Ministry had already made reports to Israeli authorities, requesting that any operation assigned to the Jerusalem forces be conducted in compliance with international law and with the utmost caution."
Minister Tajani has asked the embassy in Tel Aviv to gather information and to renew the request already made to the Jerusalem government to guarantee the absolute protection of the personnel on board.
