Milan, Sept. 22 (LaPresse) – “On the absolute rejection of sending our young people and our soldiers to die in Ukraine and Russia, the majority is completely united. We agree on investing in security — the League’s position is to focus on internal defense. Yes, we need to increase defense spending, but that means more soldiers, more police officers,” said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Matteo Salvini, speaking on RTL 102.5.
“Never in my life, there’s no intention at all,” he added regarding the idea of establishing a European army. According to Salvini, “An unlikely European army, led today by a Frenchman, would already be at war. I don't want to leave my future, and that of my children, in someone else's hands.”
