Rome, Sept. 21 (LaPresse) – “Unfortunately, the PD has already issued a call to arms to magistrates with Franceschini’s speech in Parliament. But this is extremely dangerous,” said Justice Minister Carlo Nordio in an interview with Corriere della Sera. “I will do everything to prevent this from becoming a referendum for or against the judges,” Nordio added. “If they win, with a ‘no’ to the reform, the magistrates would claim the victory and politics would once again be subordinate to the courts, as it has been for thirty years. If they lose, the judiciary would emerge humiliated and its credibility in its independence from politics would be undermined. Political defeats are never painless.”
