Milan, 15 September (LaPresse) – ‘I wanted to say to the captain,’ Francesco Ferrari, ‘who recalled some unpleasant comments’ about the skin colour of some players: "I thank you for your understatement, perhaps due to this forum. Perhaps you would have liked to use stronger and harsher terms, and I would have done the same. You are right: these miserable displays of incivility do not bother us in the slightest; on the contrary, they reinforce our conviction of the importance of inclusion, of being together, of playing sport together in the successes of our country." These were the words of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, at the Quirinale, during a meeting with the women's national basketball team, winners of the bronze medal at the last European Championships, and the men's under-20 national team, winners of the gold medal at the European Championships.
