Milan, 8 September (LaPresse) – "We have achieved some results on tariffs, we must finish the negotiations, there will still be months of negotiations. I think that this government, which is the most stable since Paolo Gentiloni led it, is playing a useful game for Europe. If it weren't for the Italian government, perhaps the negotiations would have been more complicated. Fifteen per cent is not a bad deal. I would go for zero tariffs for Europe, Mexico, Canada and the United States." This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during the “Competitiveness Forum” at the Assolombarda headquarters in Milan. With the United States, 'we are two sides of the same coin. It is not a relationship with Trump, Obama or Biden; the relationship is with the United States of America. We are two great democratic realities that are alternatives to autocracies. Europe, the United States, Japan, Australia, Canada and other countries that are liberal democracies can play a game. I am convinced that America will play its part, but it cannot turn its back on Europe. The United States cannot isolate itself and go against the whole world," he concluded.
