Milan, Aug. 23 (LaPresse) – “We decide our lists in Puglia. Not Antonio Decaro.”
This is what Nicola Fratoianni, co-leader of AVS (Greens and Left Alliance), said in an interview with la Repubblica, following the veto expressed by the former mayor of Bari and aspiring center-left candidate in the regional elections against Michele Emiliano and Nichi Vendola.
“It’s an incredible and surreal debate that needs to be closed immediately and with dignity,” he added.
“Decaro would be an excellent candidate for Puglia, but I don’t understand what he wants to be free from. From the political opportunism that has marked many recent phases of Puglia’s government? In that case, AVS is the best guarantee,” Fratoianni emphasized.
He then clarified: “AVS reaffirms that AVS decides its own lists. This discussion does not exist, and no one can think of expressing such opinions in these terms. No one within the coalition has the right to dictate to others who they can or cannot nominate — especially when it comes to such an important figure as Vendola. It's ridiculous and unacceptable.”
