Leoncavallo, Piantedosi: ‘Eviction ends a long period of illegality’

Rome, August 21 (LaPresse) – “The eviction of the Leoncavallo social center marks the end of a long season of illegality. For thirty years, that property was illegally occupied. To add insult to injury, the State was even forced to pay damages for the occupation. Today, legality is finally restored,” said Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi. “The government has a clear stance: zero tolerance for illegal occupations. Since the beginning of our mandate, nearly 4,000 properties have been cleared, including public housing units and buildings of particular significance. The eviction of Leoncavallo is just another step in a consistent and determined strategy that we will continue to pursue,” Piantedosi concluded.
