These are the words of Deputy Prime Minister and Lega leader Matteo Salvini, interviewed on 'Zona Bianca' on Rete4 ahead of the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska on August 15.
"We hope this Ferragosto brings peace for millions of Italians and closer peace for billions of people around the world, because this war has lasted three and a half years with hundreds of thousands dead. Russia has already conquered 20% of Ukraine’s territory. It’s clear no one will win the war on the battlefield with tanks, trenches, or drones. I’m sorry Europe remains a spectator, not a protagonist," he added.
