Rome, August 7 (LaPresse) – “After the continuous, public and uninterrupted spread of news regarding the role of my chief of staff, Dr. Giusi Bartolozzi, I read the reasoning of the Ministers’ Court and the inferences drawn by some newspapers. Just as Prime Minister Meloni found it surreal to think that her ministers acted without her consent, I also find it naive to suggest that my chief of staff acted independently. I reiterate that all, absolutely all of her actions were the direct execution of my orders, for which I obviously take political and legal responsibility. The mere idea, which I learned with horror, that a potential indictment of my colleague might be a way to assign to the judiciary a task that is clearly parliamentary in nature horrifies me, as it would constitute a political instrumentalization of the justice system. I hope these insinuations will cease and that Parliament, in accordance with constitutional law, will definitively rule on the role of my ministry, of which, I repeat, I am the sole and accountable head.” Thus said the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio.
