Rome, 23 July (LaPresse) – ‘I welcome with particular satisfaction the unanimous approval by the Senate of the government bill that aims to introduce femicide as a separate crime in our legal system. Italy is among the first countries to take this step, which we are convinced will help combat an intolerable scourge’. This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. ‘I would like to thank all the political forces, both in the majority and in the opposition, for their unanimous support for this proposal and for helping to improve it. The text now passes to the Chamber of Deputies, and I hope that the process can be completed quickly,’ concluded the Prime Minister.
