Milan, July 16 (LaPresse) – "For over a century, the struggles of the trade union movement have helped shape the European social model, a benchmark for workers' rights worldwide. The realization of the right to work and to a wage sufficient for a free and dignified life has been a driving force for progress, cohesion, freedom, and civilization. These are indispensable goals, especially in the context of geopolitical upheavals, climate change, technological innovations, and transformations that affect not only production systems but also the very anthropological dimension."

This was stated by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message sent to the General Secretary of the CISL, Daniela Fumarola, on the occasion of the union’s 20th Confederation Congress. "I wish the delegates gathered in Rome these days all the best in their work," he added.
