Rome, 15 July (LaPresse) – "A group of former MPs have appealed to get back the lifetime pensions that we cut in 2018 thanks to Roberto Fico's decision. They want to get their hands back on the loot, as already happened in the Senate. These are decisive days in the Montecitorio Appeals Court, where the various political forces sit. Warning to all: the M5S is fighting tooth and nail against this mess. We cannot allow this further restoration of privileges, we cannot send another devastating signal to the country after the salary increase for ministers and undersecretaries'. So said M5S leader Giuseppe Conte on social media. 'Instead of thinking about former MPs queuing up for lifetime pensions, we should be concerned about about the record number of poor people queuing at Caritas, the 4 million Italians queuing at hospitals who then give up medical appointments and tests because of endless waiting lists, the pensioners on minimum pensions who have been given a paltry €1.8 increase despite the high cost of living and the carobollette (electricity bills) continuing to bite. Let's think about real life," he concluded.
