Rome, June 28 (LaPresse) – “The International Criminal Court has dismantled the Italian government’s version of the Almasri case, exposing lies, omissions, and serious violations of the Rome Statute. Meloni, Piantedosi, Nordio, and Mantovano removed an alleged war criminal from international justice, choosing to protect a torturer rather than cooperate with the ICC. Now, following the request to refer Italy to the UN for non-compliance, we demand that the Ministers’ Court quickly conclude the ongoing investigation for aiding and abetting. International justice—hindered by this government—must act at every level. Giorgia Meloni is responsible for delegitimizing international bodies entrusted with international law, such as the UN and the Criminal Court, placing Italy outside the law in the international legal context, starting with the Almasri and Gaza cases,” said Angelo Bonelli, AVS deputy and national co-spokesperson for Green Europe.
