Rome, June 24 (LaPresse) – The hypothesis of a third term for regional governors "seems to have faded, but it could just be an eclipse — you never know." These were the words of Senate President Ignazio La Russa, speaking to reporters about the third term and the amendment proposed by the League party.
When asked about differing views on the issue within the ruling majority, La Russa replied jokingly: "If there is sensitivity, it's an eclipse; otherwise, it's a sunset." He then clarified: "It’s not a matter of sensitivity, but of assessment."
So, should we wait and see? "Exactly," he said. And he added: "What I mean is that, as far as I know, there’s no decision yet. From where I stand, I see more of a sunset than an eclipse — but even that might be a misleading impression."
Why did they insist? "I don’t know whether it’s to reaffirm a cause they believe in or because they still hope it might pass," he concluded.
