Milan, June 12 (LaPresse) – “2024 saw a 4% decrease, but in the first months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, the drop in crimes is 10%,” said Milan’s mayor Giuseppe Sala, on the sidelines of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security at the Prefecture headquarters.

“Perception has a very long memory, and I do not delude myself that citizens’ perception can change quickly,” he said. “We have reached 3,200 officers in the field, with the great advantage that to increase by 400 since the start of the mandate, we had to hire 900, so we have lowered the average age to around 40 years.”

“This has led to more arrests; the local police make about 8-9 detentions per day, with a reduction in crimes,” he emphasized.
