Rome, June 12 (LaPresse) – "I think that Donald Trump is a courageous, straightforward, and determined leader who defends his national interests. I consider myself to be straightforward, courageous, and determined, defending my national interests. So I would say we understand each other well even when we disagree." This was stated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, speaking via video link at the 25th anniversary celebration of the daily newspaper Libero, held at the Giorgio Gaber Lirico Theater in Milan. "I believe that between allied and friendly nations, like Italy and the United States, of course, one should be able to speak frankly. That's what I have always done with everyone, including President Trump, as I have done with any other partner, telling him that Italy always strives to pursue common interests. But let it be clear that our priority is the defense of our national interest," the Prime Minister reminded.
