Security Decree: PD-M5S-AVS protest in Senate chamber, La Russa suspends session

Rome, June 4 (LaPresse) – First, a minute of silence followed the remarks by Senate President Ignazio La Russa, who opened the session with “a final heartfelt tribute to President Ernesto Pellegrini, who brought honor to his family, to Milan, and to his professional life. His name is also tied to the world of sports, having served as president of Inter and winning a league title.” Then came the stadium-style chants of “Shame, shame” from senators of the Democratic Party (PD), Five Star Movement (M5S), and Green-Left Alliance (AVS), who sat on the floor in the center of the chamber in protest against the Security Decree, which reached the Senate for a confidence vote after being approved in the Chamber of Deputies last week. This scene unfolded a short while ago at Palazzo Madama, with La Russa suspending the session before the start of voting statements.
