Local elections: turnout down, 13.55% voted by noon

Rome, May 25 (LaPresse) – The first turnout data for the local elections currently taking place in 117 municipalities (plus 9 in Sicily) shows a 13.55% turnout as of noon, down from 15.54% in the previous election cycle.
The most anticipated race is in Genoa, along with those in Taranto, Ravenna, and Matera. In the 31 municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants, a runoff will be held on June 8–9 if no mayoral candidate obtains an absolute majority in the first round.
Polling stations are open today until 11 PM and tomorrow from 7 AM to 3 PM.
