Milan, May 15 (LaPresse) – “In politics, judgments are based primarily on facts, and the facts of what this government has done to combat violence against women speak for themselves,” said Eugenia Roccella, Minister for Family, Birth Rate, and Equal Opportunities, in a statement.

“The legislative work we have carried out and continue to develop with Ministers Nordio and Piantedosi and the entire government is intense, focused, and constantly monitored,” she continued, “and is accompanied by broad efforts including awareness campaigns, prevention, training for professionals, shelter and support for victims, and legal enforcement."

“With the law approved in November 2023, we emphasized the effectiveness and timeliness of preventive protection tools, extending their use even to so-called ‘warning crimes’ that may appear minor but often precede more serious offenses. More importantly, with the new bill on femicide, we have proposed stricter restrictive measures to strengthen victim protection, especially since electronic bracelets have objective limitations. Those in Parliament who truly care about women’s safety,” she concluded, “now have a clear and immediate way to enhance it: examine and approve the new femicide bill swiftly and with unity.”
