Rome, May 13 (LaPresse) – "Always remember that you are role models for many young people, and your conduct matters. This is a value and a responsibility that rests on your shoulders."
These were the words of Italian President Sergio Mattarella during a meeting at the Quirinale with the finalists of the 2024/2025 Coppa Italia, AC Milan and Bologna, who will face each other tomorrow night at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
"Tomorrow will certainly be a great sporting event. You will be the stars. Almost 90 years ago, Bologna was called 'the team that makes the world tremble'. It's hard to imagine Milan trembling, with all the league titles and cups they’ve won," he added.
"The history of your clubs ensures that tomorrow will be a thrilling match, played with passion, fairness, and respect for the opponents."
Mattarella then expressed his regret: "I’m sorry I won’t be able to watch the game, not even on TV. I’m leaving for Coimbra, where the Cotec meeting is scheduled, and tomorrow evening I’ll be on the plane."
